The next section of resurfacing works on South Road as part of a comprehensive program being delivered by the T2D Project has commenced between Bennet Avenue, Melrose Park and Norrie Avenue, Clovelly Park.

These works, which involve removing the existing pavement and replacing it with new asphalt, are expected to be completed in mid-September 2024.

Works on the 550-metre stretch of South Road include the intersection with Daws Road and will commence on the northbound lanes from Norrie Avenue, before moving to the southbound lanes once the northbound works have been completed.

The upgrade is part of ongoing resurfacing works along South Road, which will ensure the long-term safety and integrity of the road surface ahead of the start of major T2D Project works.

Works will be undertaken at night between 6pm and 7am.

Some short-term road and footpath closures will be in place to facilitate these works. Detours, signage and traffic controllers will be in place to manage traffic flow and ensure motorists, cyclists and pedestrians can safely navigate around the work areas.

These works will connect to the more than three kilometres of resurfacing works that have already been completed between Bennet Avenue, Melrose Park and Glengarry Avenue, Glandore, including the intersection of South Road and Cross Road.

The resurfacing of the remaining section of South Road between Norrie Avenue, Clovelly Park and Rothesay Avenue, Saint Marys will be undertaken in early 2025.

Resurfacing works are progressing well on the northern stretch of South Road between James Congdon Drive, Mile End South and Ashwin Parade, Thebarton, with works to be completed by early August 2024.
