Location and Timing

Resurfacing works are now underway and will continue through to June 2024. The work area has now been extended along South Road to James Congdon Drive. Works have commenced on the southbound lane of South Road, south of the intersection of Ashwin Parade and West Thebarton Road and will continue progressively to the intersection of James Congdon Drive. Works will include the intersections of Henley Beach Road and Sir Donald Bradman Drive. Works on the northbound carriageway are expected to commence following the completion of the southbound works.

Investigation works will also extend between Sir Donald Bradman Drive and James Congdon Drive commencing shortly.  All works will be undertaken between 6pm and 7am, Sunday to Friday. Please note works are weather dependent and scheduling may be subject to change.

Traffic impacts

One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times. Short-term local road and footpath closures in your area will occur as part of these works. We will notify all impacted residents and businesses in advance of any planned activities in the area and will work to keep disruptions to a minimum. Detours, signage, speed restrictions and traffic controllers will be in place to manage traffic flow and ensure motorists, cyclists and pedestrians can safely navigate around our work areas.

Some properties on South Road will have some short-term restricted access. Affected property owners, residents and businesses will be contacted directly in advance. Traffic controllers will be on site to assist with access.

What to expect

Some noise disturbances can be expected at times while these works are completed, however, the work will be managed to minimise disturbance to nearby residents as much as practically possible. This includes scheduling intrusive works in the early evening where practical. You may also notice some odour which is common when asphalting works are underway.

Pedestrians and cyclists should take care when travelling through the area. For safety reasons there may be some restricted access. Signage will be in place to direct you to alternative access and/or detours.

Some Adelaide Metro bus services and bus stops, within the project area, may be temporarily impacted while work is underway, please observe bus stop signage and visit www.adelaidemetro.com.au for the latest information.
