Project update - November 2023
Updates made to concept design following community feedback
We would like to thank residents and the local business community for providing their valuable insights on the proposed concept design.
The junction upgrade was generally well received by the local community. The proposed additional city bound lane was overwhelmingly supported. Improving pedestrian access and safety in the precinct was also well supported.
We also heard that removing the right-hand turn from Manton Street onto Adam Street would make access to the Hindmarsh precinct difficult, particularly for larger delivery vehicles needing to divert onto Richards Street.
To resolve this, we have revised the design to retain the signalised right-hand turn from Manton Street onto Adam Street (west bound).
By retaining this signalised turn, traffic will be able to continue to access the Hindmarsh precinct directly via Adam Street and will no longer need to divert onto Richard Street.
As a result of this change, we will not proceed with the proposed Richard Street right-hand turn from Manton Street.
The second lane (city bound) on Manton Street and east-west access in both directions along Adam Street is also still retained.
Please refer to the final concept design on the following page for more information.

Next steps
The detailed design will be finalised over the coming months, with construction due to start in mid-2024.
Project completion is expected in the third quarter of 2024 (weather permitting).
Further information
Further information will be provided closer to the construction works starting. We are committed to continuing to work with community and local businesses throughout the life of the project to ensure impacts are minimised.
