Resurfacing Works - South Road
These resurfacing works involve removing the existing pavement and replacing it with new asphalt, which will ensure the long-term safety and integrity of these sections ahead of the start of major T2D project works.
What to expect
The majority of resurfacing works are now complete along South Road between Bennet Avenue, Melrose Park and Glengarry Avenue, Glandore. Finishing works, including the initial coat of line marking will continue be carried out at night, Sunday to Friday between 6pm and 7am and expected to be complete in mid-August 2023 (weather permitting).
Speed restrictions are expected to remain in place until late August 2023. A second coat of line marking will be required, expected to be undertaken in early September 2023 and be completed by late September 2023 (weather permitting), advance notification of the line marking will be provided.
Traffic restrictions
South Road will remain open to traffic at all times; however, the following restrictions are required to safely facilitate these works:
- Speed and lane restrictions will be in place with one lane of traffic open in both directions during work hours.
- Adjacent streets are expected to have temporary traffic detours as works progress, please follow directional signage.
- On site signage will be in place to notify road users of local detours as the works progress.
- All lanes on South Road will be open outside of work hours, with speed restriction in place.
Please follow signage, speed limits, lane restrictions and traffic controllers when travelling through the area. Motorists should expect delays while resurfacing work is in progress. Please plan ahead, allow additional travel time, and take extra care when workers are on site.
Residents and local business
Some properties on South Road will have some short-term restricted access. The project team will contact affected property owners, residents and businesses directly in advance. Traffic controllers will be on site to assist with access.
Some noise disturbances can be expected at times while these works are completed, however, the work will be managed to minimise disturbance to nearby residents as much as practically possible. This includes scheduling intrusive works in the early evening where possible.
Pedestrians and Cyclists
Pedestrians and cyclists should take care when travelling through the area. For safety reasons there may be some restricted access. Signage will be in place to direct pedestrians and cyclists to alternative access and/or detours.
Public transport
Some Adelaide Metro bus services and bus stops, within the project area, may be temporarily impacted while work is underway, please observe bus stop signage and visit www.adelaidemetro.com.au for the latest information.
